Marty Butorac

  • Marty Butorac, piano

A Michigan native, Marty Butorac has been performing in the Milwaukee area since coming to town in 1984.  He has performed with the Milwaukee  Symphony Orchestra, accompanied the Milwaukee Symphony Chorus under Margaret Hawkins, and has performed, recorded, and produced with Present Music since the ‘80s.  Marty received his Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance and Composition from the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music in 1982, and his Master’s at Western Michigan University in 1984.

Besides piano performance, Marty specializes in contemporary audio production, especially live sound reinforcement associated with new music.  Marty occasionally lets his hair down playing bass, guitar, and keyboards in two rock bands, and regularly performs at the Museum of Wisconsin Art in West Bend.

Newly retired after almost 30 years in the corporate world as an employee at Northwestern Mutual Life, Marty now spends time catching up on home projects, pretending to exercise, being sat on by his cat Marcella, trying to keep up with his wife Murph, and feeling guilty about owning too many guitars.
